The holidays have arrived and in honor of Thanksgiving, we’d like to take a moment to express our thanks from ABC Blind & Drapery.
We’ve been in business for 68 years in Austin. It’s our home. That being said, topping our list of things we’re grateful for would certainly be our customers and our repeat customers. We’ve had the pleasure of working with wonderful customers for their business and residential window covering needs. They come to us with one project and they enjoy our products and customer service so much, they keep coming back with more projects.
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with repeat customers for numerous years, so it means we must be doing something right,” says owner Ken McWilliams. “It’s a blessing to have that in our business.”
In addition to being thankful for its customers, ABC Blind & Drapery is thankful for its employees. “We have employees who have been with us for an average of 13 years, and one who has been with me for 29 years,” explains Ken. “This is a family. We trust each other and we know we offer the best of everything, from our products to our installation services. We have a family mentality here and it’s very special,” he adds.
Every year, ABC Blind & Drapery supports the Austin community by participating in a variety of charitable events. The company believes that giving thanks and sharing blessings should happen all year long, not just around the holidays.
They’ve done work for organizations like Ronald McDonald House Charities, Dell Children’s Medical Center, American Veterans in Austin, Make A Wish Foundation, Special Olympics and Meals on Wheels to name a few. Every Christmas, ABC Blind & Drapery employees lend a hand by delivering food and goods to families in need with Operation Blue Santa.
They have a unique connection with Shriners Hospitals for Children because Ken’s cousin suffered for years with one of the worst cases of polio in the state of Texas. This was before polio vaccinations were routinely administered. His cousin spent all of those months in Shriners Hospital for Children, hours away from his home. Luckily he recovered and as a token of gratitude, ABC Blind & Drapery actively supports this hospital.
In addition to supporting non-profit organizations, ABC Blind & Drapery donates their expertise in window coverings and decor. Most recently, they partnered with local Austin companies to decorate and furnish a pregnancy center located in Pflugerville. “We donated beautiful window coverings to this collaborative project and the end result was very impressive.”
From all of us at ABC Blind & Drapery, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
