When shopping home decor, whether you’re starting from scratch or figuring out a way to bring hand-me-down pieces together, decorating a space can be a stressful and expensive challenge. There aren’t enough hours in a day to spend driving around to all of the furniture and home decor stores in the Austin area and there isn’t enough money to shell out online only to realize the color looks entirely different once you’ve unpackaged and assembled it.
We realize that installing window treatments isn’t the first step when settling in, so we’ve put together a directory of sorts to ease the home furnishing hunt/process. We wanted to provide readers with both in person and on-line, luxury and affordable furniture and decor options. May you stumble upon the perfect piece and remember that we customize upholstery to serve as a focal point in a room or match your customized window treatments.
Local Stores (from bargain to pricey)
These stores are Austin favorites and carry a variety of items such as basic furniture or decorative knick-knacks, all in a multitude of styles, ranging from traditional to eclectic. We recommend that you take a look in-store, as their inventory is constantly changing! We’ve linked their Facebook pages so that you can do an initial pass and decide if they have what you’re looking for.

Chain Stores
We like Ikea for the basics and tend to avoid picking out anything that requires too much assembly, but to each his own! Bargain stores like Home Goods are a great option for decorative items you didn’t even know you needed. Brands like Loft, West Elm and Blu Dot carry high-end furniture and are the place to search out investment pieces.
On-line Retailers
Don’t knock it until you try it, on-line shopping can be a convenient option when filling a home. The retailers below all carry brand names and most have extensive reviews so you know exactly what you are purchasing. If you’re nervous about making a purchase before seeing it in person, we recommend that you double check the return policy to be on the safe side.
