Now that the Christmas decorations are up, it is time for the Austin Christmas festivities to begin! Here is our guide to celebrating the holidays in Austin during the month of December.

Elf Outdoor Movie Night w/ Duchman Family Winery

Your $20 ticket gets you a glass of their featured wine for the evening in a Duchman logo GoVino wineglass, along with a picnic meal of your choice! This event is a nice reminder that we live in a place where we can picnic in December!

The one, the only, the Trail of Lights.

This is the type of event that we say is for the kids, but we end up enjoying more than we’re willing to admit. This year, the 52nd Trail of Lights opens on the weekend of Saturday, December 10th from 7-10 p.m.

Cookies for Caring at The Driskill

On Sunday, December 11th from 1-3pm, the Driskell Hotel will be hosting Cookies for Caring in collaboration with the Austin American Statesmen’s Season for Caring service campaign. The event is a cookie swap, where people purchase a cookie tin for $35 (plus one drink) and go home with a different batch of treats from a list of partner chefs. What’s better than eating cookies, sipping champagne and supporting a great cause?

Ice Skating on the Whole Foods Plaza

Each year, the Whole Foods Flagship store located at 525 N. Lamar Blvd. turns the plaza into an ice skating rink. It is open daily from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. beginning Sunday, Nov. 27 through Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 and the cost is $10 per person, which includes the use of skates. Here is your opportunity to dress like we actually live in a winter wonderland!

Ballet Austin: The Nutcracker

Ballet Austin will be presenting The Nutcracker from December 3rd-23rd at The Long Center. This marks the 54th year of the seasonal classic and it is sure to be entertainment for the whole family with tickets starting at $15!

Snow Day at Hill Country Galleria

Can you imagine… real snow in Austin? Bring your family out to the Hill Country Galleria starting on Saturday, December 6th from noon-4pm and you’ll get to see for yourself! The snow will magically continue on cue on Sunday, December 14th as well as Saturday, December 20th.

Merry Christmas everybody! We hope you have a great time exploring all that Austin has to offer this time of year.
